Pamela M. Riley
Pamela M. Riley is an associate attorney in the firm and is a registered patent attorney. She earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from Georgetown University in 1986, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama in 1990, where she was a member of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society.

Mrs. Riley is a member of the Maryland, California, and Alabama Bars. Mrs. Riley is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Upon completing her law degree, Mrs. Riley was commissioned in the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps. Her first assignment was to the Naval Legal Services Office Detachment on board Naval Air Station Lemoore in Lemoore, CA. She served as a Defense Counsel between 1991 and 1992, providing representation to active duty service members in a variety of judicial and administrative matters. Between 1992 and 1994, Mrs. Riley served as Senior Trial Counsel, prosecuting numerous court-martial proceedings, advising federal investigators during criminal investigations and training base security personnel on search and seizure procedures. During this time period Mrs. Riley also served as Acting Officer-in-Charge of the NLSO Det., revised the prosecution department's standard operating procedures and implemented a federally mandated Victim-Witness Assistance Program.

In 1994 Mrs. Riley was promoted to the position of Command Judge Advocate for Naval Air Station Lemoore. As the Command JAG, she advised the base Commanding Officer on all installation legal matters; including criminal law, ethics, administrative law, family law, EEO law, and civilian and military personnel law. Her responsibilities also included, drafting and revising base regulations, reviewing aircraft accident investigations, advising military and federal investigators during criminal and administrative investigations, providing ethics advice and training to base personnel, and managing the base legal office staff.

In 1995 Mrs. Riley resigned from active duty and moved with her family to Switzerland. Upon her return to the United States in 1999, she accepted a position as an Attorney-Advisor with the Office of Research Integrity of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Her duties included representing the ORI in administrative actions against individuals or institutions charged with scientific misconduct related to biomedical or behavioral research supported by federal funds. This position required that she work with a team of scientist-investigators and attorneys analyzing complex biomedical and behavioral research data and results for evidence of fraud or fabrication.

Prior to joining the firm, Mrs. Riley was employed as a patent attorney with an intellectual property law firm in Baltimore, MD. Her duties included evaluating invention disclosures, conducting patentability searches, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, including PCT applications, and rendering opinions relating to validity and infringement of patents.

Currently, Mrs. Riley concentrates on general intellectual property matters including patent application preparation and prosecution in the electrical, mechanical, business methods, chemical, and material science related arts as well as trademark application preparation and prosecution.
